Role Summary

The Business Data Architect plays a critical role in defining and implementing the data strategy for the retail banking division. This individual bridges the gap between business strategy and technical execution, ensuring that data assets are structured, governed, and leveraged to support key banking operations—such as deposits, lending, digital channels, risk management, and customer experience.

The architect partners closely with business leaders, data engineers, analysts, and technology teams to design scalable, integrated, and compliant data solutions that enable analytics, regulatory reporting, and AI-driven innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Strategy & Architecture

  • Develop and maintain the retail bank’s enterprise data architecture blueprint, including data domains such as customer, product, transaction, and account data.

  • Translate business goals into data models, integration frameworks, and data flows that enable insight-driven decision making.

  • Define data architecture standards, reference models, and best practices aligned with enterprise architecture principles.

  • Business Alignment & Collaboration

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand key banking processes—e.g., customer onboarding, loan origination, payments, fraud detection—and design supporting data structures.

  • Serve as the bridge between business and IT, ensuring that data solutions meet operational, analytical, and regulatory needs.

  • Collaborate with Data Governance and Compliance teams to ensure data quality, lineage, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GLBA, BCBS 239, GDPR).

  • Data Modeling & Integration

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models across multiple banking systems and platforms.

  • Oversee integration between core banking, CRM, digital, and analytics platforms using APIs, data lakes, and data warehouses.

  • Support the migration to cloud-based data ecosystems (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data management tools.

  • Data Governance & Quality

  • Define data ownership and stewardship models for critical data elements (CDEs).

  • Establish and monitor data quality KPIs, lineage documentation, and metadata management standards.

  • Partner with data stewards to ensure business definitions, hierarchies, and master data align across channels and systems.

  • Innovation & Enablement

  • Enable data-driven capabilities for AI/ML, personalization, and customer insights initiatives.

  • Evaluate new tools and methods in data architecture, integration, and metadata management.

  • Promote a data-centric culture by evangelizing data as a strategic business asset.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or enterprise information management.

  • Proven experience in retail banking or financial services (core banking, lending, deposits, digital channels, or risk domains).

  • Experience with data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, PowerDesigner), and data integration platforms (e.g., Informatica, Talend, MuleSoft).

  • Hands-on knowledge of cloud data architectures (Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery, Databricks).

  • Familiarity with regulatory data standards and banking data taxonomies (e.g., BIAN, ISO 20022, BCBS 239).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data management (MDM) principles.

  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance innovation and compliance.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
